How to Make a Poem Interesting

If you have ever written a poem before, then you must understand that you must allow your imagination to grow wings and take flight.

A poem, no matter how descriptive it may be, is not to be used to state the obvious. We all know that the grass is green, for example. What you need to express in your poem is what you felt when you saw the green grass.

What emotions did it evoke within you?

What were you going through at the time and how did seeing the green grass change or enhance your feelings at that moment of time?

When Was The Last Time You Wrote a Poem With a Pen and Paper?

To be honest, the last time I wrote a poem (or short story) with a pen and paper was about a decade ago.

Not that I got lazy or developed a dislike for those writing materials but the moment i started writing with my laptop and then later on, mobile devices, I've found it hard to return to a pen and a blank page.

How to Write a Poem

I'm not going to go into any lengthy article on how to write a poem. Rather, I'm just going to advise you - If you're a first time poet or still trying to understand how to write a poem, you must never take your audience for granted.

Who wanted to turn around to run away

But was prevented from doing so by the wall of humans behind him

Lanre snatched the black bag from the old man and turned it upside down

And out came a necklace made with cowries and another made with black beads

Other items that Lanre could make out were little plastic containers that contained liquid content, broom sticks, a strange looking mirror

And several others that Lanre could not make out

Lanre felt himself gradually losing his sanity

And with the little strength and reason left in him, he said to the man:

Women:
A wife was not at home for the whole night. The next morning, she tells her husband that she stayed in her girlfriend's apartment. The husband calls 10 of her best friends and none of them confirmed it.

Men:
A husband was not at home for the whole night. He tells his wife the next morning, that he stayed at his friend's apartment for the night. The wife calls 10 of his best friends; 5 of them confirmed that he stayed at their apartment last night, and the other 5 are still claiming that he is still there with them!

Is Abramovich Serious About Taking Over as Chelsea Manager?

Many would remember that barely 24 hours ago, we got wind of a purported move by the Chairman of Chelsea Football Club, Roman Abramovich to take over as the club's official coach - a news many found too ridiculous to be true.

Well, so far, there hasn't been an y confirmation or denial of this report from the Chelsea camp and we're keeping our ears to the ground on this one even as the news continues to spark series of controversies especially when one considers the implication of Abramovich becoming the club's manager especially considering coach Rafael Benitez's inevitable exit.
